Funding Programs

Overview
The AAMPO administers three primary regional grant programs including the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG), the Transportation Alternative Program (TAP), and the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP). The AAMPO holds an annual application cycle for these three programs where it will solicit & select projects for funding. This application period typically starts in January and ends in March of every calendar year. Only AAMPO member agencies are eligible to receive funding. STBG
The Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program is a federal program with the purpose of promoting flexibility in state and local transportation decisions and providing funding to best address state and local transportation needs. The AAMPO is allocated STBG funding to award to its member agencies and governments for eligible regional transportation projects and initiatives.

TAP
The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) is a set-aside from the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) federal program. It provides funding and investment opportunities for non-motorized transportation projects. The AAMPO is allocated regional TAP funding by the Iowa DOT to award to its member agencies and governments for eligible regional transportation projects and initiatives.

CRP
The Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) is a federal grant program which provides funding for projects designed to reduce transportation emissions. The AAMPO is allocated CRP funding to award to its member agencies and governments for eligible regional transportation projects and initiatives.
