What is a Transportation Improvement Program?
The AAMPO develops a Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) annually. The TIP serves as a four-year implementation program for federally funded and regional significant transportation projects within the Ames region. The AAMPO TIP is included within the Iowa Department of Transportation's Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
Current TIP
The Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2024-2027 TIP is the AAMPO's current effective TIP. It was formally approved in July 2023 and remains effective through September 2024. Below is a link to the report document.

- May - Review of draft TIP by the Transportation Technical and Policy Committees
- May - Public input session on draft TIP
- June - Review of draft TIP by Iowa DOT
- June - Draft TIP open for public comments
- July - Final TIP review
- July - Final TIP Public Hearing/Approval
- October - TIP becomes effective
